Healthy Aging & Regenerative Technologies (HeART)

The Healthy Aging and Regenerative Technologies (HeART) theme is committed to addressing the imminent and pressing challenges associated with promoting healthy longevity, particularly in the context of an aging population in Saudi Arabia and globally. The theme will work to mount a comprehensive approach to mitigating the health impacts of noncommunicable diseases. The primary focus of HeART lies in advancing our understanding of normal aging mechanisms. This theme aims to develop tangible interventions that can slow, stop or even reverse age-associated health impacts.

This goal will be realized by integrating the work of expert faculty in this research theme with the expertise of the entire KCSH. HeART aims to better understand and improve the identification of genetic diseases, determine biomarkers and drivers of inflammaging, and design novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. The HeART faculty will achieve this through cutting-edge research in cellular reprogramming and gene editing. This work will support the innovation of new targeted therapeutics and drugs for diseases associated with aging.
