يهتم البروفيسور لى في أبحاثه بدراسة آليات التجديد التي تحافظ على شكل ووظائف الجسم البشري. وتعتمد برامج أبحاثه على منصة متعددة التخصصات تشمل دراسة نماذج الخلايا الجذعية وهندسة الجينوم، وعلم الجينومات الوظيفية، والهندسة الحيوية وفحص المواد الكيميائية.
