The Science Fun Fair is an opportunity for the wider community, not just at KAUST but also in the Kingdom, to learn about science, technology and innovation taking place in the research centers and labs at KAUST. The fair takes place during the Winter Enrichment Program at KAUST and in 2013 a special exhibition went to Ibtikar, Riyadh.
Science Fun Fair, Winter Enrichment Program, KAUST

Each year scientists and researchers bring science and research out of their labs to interact with the KAUST community and local schools. School students from The KAUST Schools (Elementary and Secondary) also take part by showcasing a series of experiments and demonstrations, and by competing in different age categories. During WEP 2014 there were a total of 90 different exhibits and experiments in the categories of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and All About the Mind. There were also demonstrations in the Visualization Lab, a poster exhibition on Saving Energy at Home and a special “Meet Your Red Sea Friends -- Touch Tanks and Aquaria Experience.” The KAUST Schools and community, as well as school students from outside of KAUST, attended the fair.
Science Fun Fair, Ibtikar 2013, Riyadh
Ibtikar is one of the largest and most important exhibitions in the Middle East for inventors and innovators to exhibit their work and inspire young minds. Each year 100,000 visitors attend the event including elementary, middle and high school students and the general public. In 2013 it took place December 1-5 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Researchers and students from KAUST, led by their faculty, presented a diverse and interactive program giving a taste of the different fields of research being conducted at the university. A support team including Arabic language speakers accompanied the scientists to ensure native language speakers would benefit from the exhibits.
