The Coastal and Marine Resources (CMR) Core Lab at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has won two prestigious safety awards.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awarded the Core Lab its Gold Award for overall health and safety, and Bronze Award for fleet management safety in Dubai in September.
Abdullah Alghaith, KAUST senior marine operations superintendent, said the CMR Core Lab was ‘deeply honored’ to receive the two awards.
“KAUST is recognized globally for its excellence and leadership in marine science, and these awards are a well-deserved recognition of the hard work, high standards, and strong safety culture built together by all CMR Core Lab staff in the way operations are conducted.”
RoSPA, a leading safety organization in the United Kingdom, has promoted safety for more than 100 years. The RoSPA awards are globally recognized for honoring achievements that save lives, enrich society, and set safety standards in and beyond the workplace. RoSPA’s patron is King Charles III.
The CMR Core Lab is a complete marine facility specializing in marine operations, oceanographic instrumentation, and sea simulation experimentation. It operates a fleet of research and support vessels, including Saudi Arabia’s first fully equipped research vessel, the RV Thuwal. Core Labs is a system of cross-disciplinary, interconnected, state-of-the-art scientific research laboratories staffed by experts in their fields.
