Overview


The Student Ombuds provides confidential, neutral, and independent support to KAUST students navigating academic, research, or community-related concerns.

This service offers an informal space to discuss issues, explore options, and identify appropriate next steps in alignment with University policies and processes.


How the Ombuds Can Support You


Students may seek support for concerns related to:
  • Academic progress, supervision, or requirements
  • Teaching and learning experiences
  • Interpersonal or cultural conflicts
  • Student services or administrative processes
  • Campus life, facilities, or living arrangements
  • Situations where guidance on next steps is needed
Support may include:
  • Clarifying concerns and available options
  • Preparing for conversations or decision-making
  • Facilitating communication, where appropriate
  • Identifying relevant University resources

Principles of the Service

Confidentiality

All discussions are confidential, except where there is a risk of serious harm or where disclosure is required by law.

Neutrality and Impartiality

The Ombuds does not advocate for any individual or party and supports fair and equitable processes.

Independence

The Ombuds operates independently and without interference.

Informality

The service does not conduct formal investigations or make decisions.
