KAUST and Qassim University to advance research, innovation, and entrepreneurship

KAUST and Qassim University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen scientific and research partnerships. The ceremony took place at KAUST, with the MoU signed by His Excellency Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, President of Qassim University, and KAUST President Sir Edward Byrne AC. 

The MoU aims to develop the research environment, support innovation and entrepreneurship, foster the exchange of expertise between the two universities, develop joint academic programs, and leverage advanced research resources. These efforts enhance the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for scientific and technological excellence. 

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Waleed Al-Battah, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University; Professor Omar Knio, Vice President for Educational and Academic Affairs at KAUST; and Professor Arwa Al-Aama, KAUST Vice President for Institutional Advancement. 

The MoU encompasses various areas of collaboration, most notably the utilization of advanced research and information resources, strengthening cooperation in scientific research, training and development, as well as academic exchange of faculty members. These efforts enrich research output and cultivate effective integration between the two academic institutions. 

Additionally, Al-Battah and Knio signed a research training program agreement, enabling Qassim University students to participate in high-quality research projects supervised by distinguished researchers at KAUST that support academic and intellectual development in their respective fields.
