​Sahel Alakel is currently serving his first term as the Graduate Life Officer (GLO) at King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST). In this role, Sahel will echo the voice of students at KAUST to improve the quality of extra-curricular events held around the campus, and attempt to enhance the quality of life of students campus-wide in various ways.

In addition to his role as GLO, Sahel is working diligently to obtain his Master's degree in Material Science and Engineering. Sahel has always had an interest in event management, quality of life improvement and leadership positions. Prior to joining KAUST as a student, Sahel worked in Industrial Research and Development (R&D) while also dedicating a portion of his time to quality of work life improvement projects having initiated a professional association for young employees, worked to develop fresh graduates who join R&D, and as a part of a young leaders committee working directly with the executive committee in SABIC. Sahel hopes to leverage those experiences to continue on the work of previous GLOs.
