​Wajd was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She joined KAUST in August 2021 as a MSc student in Bioscience, where she later joined the Reef Ecology Lab. She is passionate about biological research and finding ways to make research more innovative, accurate, and economical both in time and resources. Outside of science she enjoys playing piano, swimming, watching movies, listening to podcasts, learning about different cultures, and traveling.

Wajd also enjoys being active and leading change in her community. Before joining KAUST, she participated in starting a STEM outreach club targeting minorities to empower them during her undergraduate studies in Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. 

As the GSC Secretary, she is responsible for organizing and documenting all GSC meetings as well as preparing meeting agendas and handling GSC archive and keeping record of GSC documents. Her role also includes handling external communications received by GSC.
