Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and KAUST advance innovation and support sustainability

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) aimed at strengthening their partnership in the areas of innovation, sustainability, and advanced technologies, as well as the development of human capital. 

This collaboration supports institutional performance and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals. The agreement was signed by Eng. Hamad AlHumaidi, Deputy Governor for Human Capital at ZATCA, and Dr. Ian Campbell, Vice President of National Transformation Institute (NTI) at KAUST.

The MoC establishes a regulatory framework between the two parties, enabling the exchange of expertise and access to KAUST's research and academic capabilities, technical resources, and world-class laboratories. This partnership aims to support environmental projects and sustainability initiatives while advancing scientific research in areas relevant to ZATCA’s work. It also includes the development of innovative technological solutions to enhance institutional efficiency. Additional areas of collaboration include corporate innovation management, international partnership development, and broader utilization of KAUST's advanced infrastructure. 

Commenting on the signing, Campbell said: “We are proud of this partnership with [ZATCA], which serves as a powerful model for collaboration between academic institutions and government entities. We believe that combining our research and technical expertise with the Authority’s development goals will drive the creation of sustainable solutions in support of Saudi Vision 2030.”
