KAUST Vice Provost Prof. Suzana Nunes Receives Prestigious EMS Honorary Membership

KAUST Vice Provost and Professor Suzana Nunes has been appointed as an Honorary Member of the European Membrane Society.

KAUST Professor Suzana Nunes, Environmental Science and Engineering, has been appointed as an Honorary Member of the European Membrane Society (EMS) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, science and technology in the field of membranes and membrane processes.

Since its inception in 1982, only a distinguished group of scientists has received this honor. Nunes, who also serves as KAUST Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, expressed her gratitude, noting that she now becomes part of an elite circle of membrane researchers and pioneers. “It is special for me to join the group of colleagues who I truly admire, including names that inspired me from the beginning of my career.”

A KAUST professor since the university’s founding in 2009, Nunes has focused her research on novel polymeric materials for membrane manufacturing, characterization and applications in areas such as nanofiltration, pervaporation and gas separation.

Nunes received her honorary membership during the EuroMembrane 2024 conference in Prague, Czech Republic, Sept. 8-12. EMS promotes collaboration between European scientists and engineers who are involved in synthetic and artificial membrane research and development.
