King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in the fields of education, training, scientific research, and professional development.

This strategic step seeks to support academic and technological advancement and enhance the capabilities of national talent.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ian Campbell, Vice President of the KAUST National Transformation Institute (NTI); Professor Saleh Al-Furaih, CEO of the Applied College; and Dr. Makhlad Al-Saeedi, dean of Al-Leith University College.

The MoU aims to develop joint training and capacity-building programs, update curricula and academic plans, and provide scientific and professional consultancy. It also includes organizing workshops and educational forums in areas of mutual interest to promote knowledge and expertise exchange between both institutions.

Commenting on the occasion, Campbell stated: “This partnership with Umm Al-Qura University represents a strategic step toward advancing innovation and knowledge exchange, supporting the development of qualified national talent aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.”

The agreement offers students at Umm Al-Qura University the opportunity to engage with KAUST's advanced research environment through workplace simulation programs, while also enabling talent from both institutions to contribute to the delivery of academic and training initiatives.

This collaboration falls within KAUST's broader strategy to expand its partnerships with national educational institutions, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives of building an innovative, knowledge-based society rooted in excellence and leadership.
