Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for KAUST, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), KAUST and KACARE have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Held at KAUST, the signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Dr. Mamdouh bin Saud bin Thunayan Al-Saud, CEO of KACARE, and KAUST President Sir Edward Byrne AC.
The MoU aims to strengthen scientific collaboration between the two parties in the fields of renewable energy, hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and innovation. It also seeks to accelerate the adoption of sustainable technologies, as well as the development of prototypes and applied solutions that address national priorities.
The agreement includes joint educational and training programs targeting national talent, specialized academic programs, and support for entrepreneurship through business accelerators and technology incubators. This agreement will create opportunities for innovation and strengthen the sustainable energy ecosystem in the Kingdom.
The MoU also outlines cooperation in providing technical consultations, organizing scientific events and specialized exhibitions, and exchanging data and technical information within an integrated framework that enhances local content development and supports national efforts in energy and innovation.
This agreement demonstrates the commitment of KAUST and KACARE to expanding their strategic partnerships with national and international universities, as well as enhancing their contribution to developing a sustainable energy sector, in alignment with the Kingdom’s development and innovation goals.
