William F. Stamm is the General Counsel for the University and its affiliate companies and also serves as Secretary to the KAUST Board of Trustees.
Bill began his relationship with the University in April 2007, when he was asked to assist in the initial stages of the University's development including the establishment of the Global Research Partnership, the Academic Excellence Alliance and the Special Partnership Programs, among other things. He was appointed as the University's founding General Counsel on July 1, 2008.
As General Counsel, Bill is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the University and is responsible for ensuring that the University and its affiliates comply with the laws of all jurisdictions within which they operate. In addition, he is responsible for ensuring that the actions of the University are conducted in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures of the University and in accordance with the highest ethical standard as determined by the KAUST Board of Trustees.
Bill also serves as Secretary to the University's Board of Trustees. In the capacity of Secretary to the Board of Trustees, he coordinates the development of meeting agendas and records and maintain minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees and its Committees.
Bill is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S. Civil Engineering) and the University of Akron School of Law (J.D.), Akron, Ohio (U.S.). He is admitted to the practice of law in Ohio, Florida, Texas and Colorado and is a member of various professional associations. Bill started his legal career in the private practice of law and then commenced employment as legal counsel for Aramco Services Company in Houston, Texas in 1983. He was then transferred to that company's parent, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where he served in various capacities before retiring as its Associate General Counsel in June 2004.
