John Tannaci

Chief of Staff to the President

In his previous role as the associate vice president for research, John served as the primary conduit between faculty and the senior vice president for research, innovation & economic development, working across departments to facilitate and advance research. Before coming to KAUST in 2014, John was an associate professor of organic chemistry at California Lutheran University, where his research focused on C-H activation chemistry and polymer synthesis for applications such as solar power and flexible electronics. In addition to research and teaching, he was highly engaged in regional workforce development, educational partnerships, local science outreach, pre-professional advising and revision of the general education curriculum. John received his BS in chemical engineering (with distinction) from Stanford University and his Ph.D. in chemistry from UC Berkeley.
