Dr. Naadiya Carrim

Interim Director, Global Branding and Communications

​Dr Naadiya Carrim is currently on secondment leading the university's communications department as Interim Director, implementing strategies to disseminate science and innovation at a national and global level. Naadiya has extensive experience in identifying areas and opportunities to translate research, driving the creation of platforms that will enhance the ability to engage national and international stakeholders; building partnerships across academia, government and industry to address national priorities and global challenges. She has a scientific background in platelet biology and immunology and was awarded the Canadian Blood Services Postdoctoral Fellowship [1 of 5 awarded nationally] and has published 13 peer-reviewed papers. 

Prior to her role in KAUST, Naadiya attained her PhD in cardiovascular biology from the Royal College of Surgeons in her native home, Ireland, and then pursued her academic career in cardiovascular immunology in St. Michael's Hospital and the University of Toronto, Canada. Following her postdoctoral fellowship Naadiya joined the startup company Novalte, as Project Manager before arriving at KAUST. She has been part of the KAUST community since March 2017.
