Research Interests
Professor Luyten's research interests include observations and models of ocean currents, physical and chemical properties on appropriate spatial and temporal scales to understand the underlying processes which control their transport and distribution, with a particular emphasis in developing an integrated understanding of coral reefs, their habitats and ecology from a multidisciplinary point of view. Such an understanding is essential to develop a scientific framework for the conservation and protection of the ecosystems of the coral reefs in the presence of future coastal development and climate change.
