Workshops
KAUST’s Core Labs and Major Facilities are complemented by:
- Machine Shop for the design and fabrication of prototype devices and components for research and coursework, utilizing mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and electrostatic discharge cutting machines. Capabilities include precision milling, turning, and grinding; brazing, welding, and soldering; finishing by buffing, bead-blasting, and sand-blasting; production of CAD drawings and CAD programs; contour and cutoff sawing; diamond core drilling, cutting, and grinding; and heat treatment.
- Electronics Shop which offers services for the maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic devices used in research labs, and for the design and fabrication of customized electronic equipment not commercially available.
- Metrology Lab for the maintenance of standards, measurement and calibration of equipment.
- Glass-Blowing Shop for the design and fabrication of scientific glassware.
