Coastal & Marine
The Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab is KAUST’s marine facility dedicated to conducting state-of-the-art research and developing novel oceanographic instrumentation. Situated south of the main campus, adjacent to the pier, the facility is primed for any and all marine research conducted at the University. The direct access to the Red Sea allows for ease of fieldwork involving oceanographic sampling and the testing and deployment of new oceanographic apparatuses.
The Core Lab’s facilities provide the ideal location for specimen observation and processing. There are two primary buildings containing:
- Indoor and outdoor seawater laboratories
- Dedicated dive operations facility
- Industrial workshops
- Aquarium facilities
- Dry laboratories
- Classrooms
