WEP Science Fair

Sharpen your senses! Be prepared to see, hear, smell, taste and feel science at this year’s Science Fair brought to you by the Winter Enrichment Program.

Join us Tuesday, January 19 for a dynamic program of shows, exciting experiments and exhibits. The day will start in the Auditorium with an exciting show by the most popular science podcast host, Dr. Chris Smith. He promises to knock your socks off with an explosive look at some exhilarating science demonstrations. Don’t miss out on Chris’ keynote later that night at 7:00 p.m.

Step into the University Library to take a look at some eye-opening exhibits. Comics and artwork created by students during the ‘Drawing Comics’ and ‘Re-usable Art’ workshops will be on display. Make sure to vote for your favorite drawing and art piece! Also on display will be some cleverly crafted recycled furniture created by KAUST artist Fadia Akkawi with the help of the AVERDA team.

Last but not least, swing by the Visualization Laboratory for two awesome exhibits. “On the Trail of the Glaciers: An Interactive Experience” will compare archived and contemporary photographs to analyze the impacts of climate change on the world’s largest glaciers. This exhibit is a remarkable photographic-scientific project created by Fabiano Ventura and video artist Paolo Scoppola.

The Lab 2 Film exhibit will feature short films produced by KAUST students during the WEP workshop “Lab 2 Film.” These films aim to communicate scientific ideas to a general audience in an engaging and interactive way. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite movie!
