Physical Sciences and Engineering Division
Research Overview
Research at KAUST brings students, faculty, and researchers together to push the frontiers of science through collaborative inquiry into issues of regional and global significance. The University focuses on energy, water, food, the environment, and computational science and engineering - five global challenges to the planet with great potential to advance quality of life for Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region, and the world.
The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Division is associated with two Research Centers, the primary research units at KAUST:
- Clean Combustion Research Center – This Center pursues solutions to global challenges created by the combustion of fossil fuels, in particular pollutant control, global warming and climate change mitigation, and sustainable fuel usage.
- Solar and Alternative Energy Science and Engineering Research
Center – This Center focuses on renewable energy science and engineering, and will create new innovations in efficient and low-cost photovoltaic (PV) foundational technologies.
