RESEARCH SYMPOSIA & CONFERENCES

As part of KAUST’s mission to convene talented researchers from around the world, the University hosts and sponsors numerous international research symposia and conferences in Saudi Arabia.

Participants and attendees gather to discuss trends and topics in scientific research and graduate education, the development of KAUST as a world class graduate research University, and global issues of importance to Saudi Arabia and the region.

  • The KAUST Symposium (October 22, 2007) – The symposium brought together several of the world’s leading academics and researchers to discuss the forum’s primary theme: The Role of the Research University in the 21st Century.
  • The IT Summit (October 28, 2007) – The summit convened 16 of the world’s foremost experts in computer science, e-science, data intensive supercomputing, and internet scale systems to examine the likely impact of information technologies on the global research enterprise in the next 10-15 years.
  • The Global Research Partnership (GRP) Technical Symposium (May 27-28, 2008) – The symposium, titled "Frontiers and Opportunities in Science and Engineering: The Contribution of the Global Research Partnership to KAUST, Saudi Arabia, and the World" marked the first global gathering of KAUST GRP award recipients. 
  • Partners in Progress: The Special Academic Partnership Symposium (October 14-15, 2008) – marked the first global gathering and introduction of KAUST’s special academic partners and outlined each institution’s respective research contribution to KAUST.
