Disability Benefits
Income continuation
As an additional benefit, KAUST provides disability coverage to eligible faculty and staff members to assist them in the event of a period of disability due to an accident or illness, including both short- and long-term disability events.
Short-Term Disability
The plan provides salary continuation for eligible faculty or staff members who are temporarily unable to work as a result of illness or injury. Levels of coverage are based on percentage of base pay for defined periods of time and provided free of charge.
Long-Term Disability
This plan provides continuation of income for eligible faculty and staff members, should they be unable to work as a result of a qualifying long-term illness or injury.
Insurance
Excellent Offerings to Faculty and Staff
KAUST's comprehensive benefits package also includes life insurance for eligible faculty and staff members, because the University recognizes your need for income protection for your family and survivors. In addition to the basic coverage provided free of charge, faculty and staff have the option to purchase additional supplemental life and accident insurance coverage, further enhancing their family's level of protection.
Life Insurance
All faculty and staff members of KAUST are eligible for life insurance coverage. Two options of coverage are available, with amounts based on the employee's annual base pay.
Basic Life - provides two times annual base pay in case of death while employed by the University. This option is provided by KAUST to all faculty and staff, free of charge.
Optional Supplemental Life Insurance - plan members also can purchase additional insurance, ranging from one to five times their annual base pay, up to a maximum of $1 million. This supplemental insurance option is fully paid by the plan member.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment
The plan provides eligible faculty and staff with the option to purchase Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage for themselves and eligible family members.
Plan members can purchase up to $500,000 or 10 times annual base pay, whichever is greater, to a maximum of $1 million.
